Balsam Lake Provincial Park

Day Two. The weather was absolutely fantastic. My friend and I went to the Kawartha Lakes area for a little drive out of town. We stopped by Peterborough to get some lunch .. it was a pretty quiet city, not too many things happening in their downtown area .. but at least we found a place to eat. Hehe .. :P

Our main stop of the day was the Balsam Lake Provincial Park. We hiked their Lookout Nature Trail, 'coz they said “The highlight of the trail is a lookout tower offering a view of Balsam Lake and surrounding countyside.” But we didn't find any lookout tower along the way. :(
We did find this:

Fire ...

Then, in search of the lake (I wanted the lake .. hehe), we drove to the camping area.
Found the lake. Sat down for a bit while enjoying the sound of the water crashing into the rocks. Took some pics. Then I got my friend a little worried 'coz I wanted to go down this “downhill” path right to the water area. And I did go down (she was okay after inspecting the path very closely .. or maybe it was because I kept saying that I could do it and she knew that she probably wouldn't be able to stop me from going down .. HAHA!). My tripod and shoes got a little wet .. but that's part of the fun. Yupe! Hahaha! :P ;)

Enjoying the day ...

Balsam Lake

We got to see some very neat fall colours along the way. And it's especially great when it was getting close to sunset. The colour just came out stronger … and it was even stronger when I had my glasses clip-on on. LOL! :P
