Ah, yes, the famous July 7, 2007. Was it, being 777, really a lucky/exceptionally good day? Or just a day like any other day?
My dad once told me that my grandma (my mom’s mom) said that there’s no bad days – everyday is a good day .. and if it’s bad, then we’re the ones who make it a bad day. Was she right? Of course she was, she’s my grandma!
So anyway, last Saturday, we went to Ontario Place in the evening to catch some fireworks in action. They had the finale of the Festival Of Fire that day. It was a little chilly after the sun went down, but I forgot about the cold when the fireworks started. LOL! It was great!
Then guess what, they turned some of the lantern lights on!! They’re still working on the lanterns for the upcoming Chinese Lantern Festival, so it’s still pretty messy there, but I was very excited to see that they turned some of them on. They have different lanterns than last year, but the pandas are back!
Here’s a sneak peek of one:

Had the annual Canada Day BBQ at BF/MLF's place last Sunday. Too much food as usual .. but it was grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!!!

Why are you still reading this blog entry? Go watch the movie!!

The first day of summer .. and I wanted to take a picture of something since the day was very nice. So, I decided to go to the Cathedral of the Tansfiguration in Unionville. I've been wanting to take a picture of it for a while now .. so why not today?
So we went there .. took a bunch of pics from the side road. Stopped right in front of the fence to take a closer look .. but didn't dare to take another picture since there was this scary looking older man sitting in his car staring at us (not nice) — the whole time! We left.
Turns out that the cathedral was “abandoned” .. and he's most probably a security guard.

Ooff .. lack of posting lately. Actually, it's lack of posting here, I put up some stuff on flickr. LOL! This is because of the following (other than my usual stuff):
1. Been reading a bit more (books/magazines, that is)
2. Been thinking of installing WordPress and migrating my blog site there — this is very interesting! Hopefully by this Fall (or sooner) I'll get it up and running (fruity, I'm waiting for that list of “good” plug-ins to install )
3. Been outside — the weather's too nice
4. De Quervain's Tenosynovitis (another info here) — on my left wrist — this SUCKS! Apparently my muscle is very angry at me (according to my physiotherapist ) — never heard of that before. But it's getting a lot better today than a few weeks ago. The physiotherapist said it should be back to normal (mostly) in a couple of weeks. Yay!
And I found out that the Toronto Star, Saturday paper, has this super sudoku puzzle where 5 sudokus are combined into one. I don't think they had it before they converted to the new format (a couple of weeks ago). I know there's such a thing (Samurai Sudoku) but I've just never done it since it's online and I like it better if I have it on paper. Now it's been taking over a portion of my blogging time. Heh!

The second place we visited during the Doors Open weekend in Toronto was the Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres on Yonge Street just north of Queen Street. Apparently it's the last operating double-decker theatre in the world.
I've been to the Elgin Theatre a few times for shows (and one meeting ). Take a look at the following pic, see those little light covers on the balcony, they had volunteers making them by hand (because they didn't have money to actually buy them at the time). WHOA!!!

But I've never been to the Winter Garden Theatre. Turned out that it's gorgeous inside! With leaves and paintings on the wall, stage, everywhere:

Makes me want to just stand up on the chairs and touch the leaves … but maybe I'll get in trouble for doing that … hmmm …
Remember my little Sunday downtown trip back in February when I visited the old and unused TTC Lower Bay Station because they had to close the current Bay Station?
Now last weekend we had Doors Open here in Toronto. Some of the normally closed buildings were open to the public to see. So, we went downtown and checked out the TTC Lower Bay station again, this time we could actually go down to the platform! (no ghost — thank goodness!). We had to line up for about 45 minutes, maybe because this is the first year the station was part of the Doors Open so people were too excited to see it. LOL!
Pretty interesting down there standing on the platform .. realizing that there could be famous movie actors/actresses standing on the same spot when shooting their movies there.

Hmm .. still don't want to be there alone though. LOL! More pics on Flickr.

Last Sunday was exactly three years since my mom passed away. I miss her .. lots. But yes, I know she's in me (and my family too). And she's up there watching me every step of the way. Knowing that, life's not bad. Not bad at all.
Love you mom!
