The Toronto Star published an article last weekend titled “Your life story. In six words.” I found it interesting to read .. made me think of what my own six words would be. Then I came up with this (*lol*): Yesterday I posted my total lunar eclipse picture. Here are a few more pics. I put them into 4 sequences (I was juuuuust playing with the time settings on my camera .. different settings on different sequence):
There’ll be a total solar eclipse this August, but will only be visible from the High Arctic in Canada .. hmmmmmm. If anybody’s going to check it out, don’t forget to send me pictures! LOL! I spent a couple of hours of my life earlier to watch the lunar eclipse. No, not outside! Inside! It’s darn cold outside (minus 13 Celcius, but feels like -20 .. ooo, weather post! Until at one point I had a hard time with some reflections on the window. Only then I went outside to the balcony to take a few pics. Here’s one: The moon is red apparently because once it’s completely in the Earth’s shadow, it’s illuminated by light diffracted in the Earth’s atmosphere (which tends to filter out blue). Pretty neat. According to an article in the Toronto Star, Saturn is also expected to be visible to the left of the moon. So .. maybe it’s that one little bright object on the bottom left …. A couple of hours watching the eclipse thinking “if i had a kick ass telescope, could i see shadows of buildings/things/people on the edge of the Earth’s shadow?”, “how many people actually are watching this at this time?”, etc etc etc. Those are a couple of hours I can’t get back. Was it worth it? Definitely! Now I just need a clear day like today (but warmer) to go outside and look for the Andromeda galaxy. And practice some more astrophotography. *grin* (I’ll post some more pictures later .. it’s a workday and I need sleep. Happy Valentine’s Day! P.S. Happy belated Lunar New Year (of the RAT!! The coolest and first sign of the Chinese zodiac. 2008 is here .. and mother nature just dumped a few centimetres of snow on the ground. (Had to mention the weather … hehe At the end of 2007, Little J can say the ABC, count to 10 and say a few words – very cool!! Soon she’ll be talking. She also got a baby sister, Little N, and at 4 months, Little N can already do baby talk. ML gave birth to a baby girl on Canada Day. She’ll get fireworks every year to celebrate. Niiiiccceee. My high school friend, LT, and her husband and cute little daughter came over to Toronto for a few days. It was nice to catch up with her. The little girl can sing a few Indonesian songs too! LOL! Got my flickr account going again. Installed WordPress and migrated my blog over. Been reading a lot more too. My bro and sis-in-law were in town over the Christmas holiday. We went to Quebec (posts coming soon The icing of the 2007 cake was Of Course. But I have to say … bye bye 2007! Thanks for the great memories. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!! Hope this year is a great one for all. It’s December! I love December … although it could get cold up here in Toronto (anyone misses my weather post?
Yesterday, I received a flickr email telling me that one of my food pics was used in the Fourth Edition of Schmap Buffalo:
It’s a pic of chicken wings at Anchor Bar in Buffalo — and yes, they have good chicken wings! Pretty neat! Remember this little guy? Well, it’s made its way to one of the pages in the Fall/Winter 2007 edition of Toronto Zoo’s collections magazine.
I wasn’t expecting it. But it’s awesome to see it there. P.S. French translation from Babel Fish (No, I don’t speak French Last year, I thought of going to a place in the Beach area (Joseph Duggan Road) where they decorate a few front yards for Halloween. But considering that Halloween is on a Wednesday this year, I don’t think I can make it there after work. I think I’ll wait until Halloween is on a weekend. ;P Just a reminder for those who are going trick-or-treat-ing: be good and be safe! OK .. enough advice (I’m sure you all know about it already — it’s everywhere, news, radio Here’s one of the carved pumpkins that I like (I think it’s one of the “deep sea” fish — could be this one. Maybe next time, they’ll make Nemo out of pumpkin too .. Hehe): More carved pumpkins from the zoo in my Halloween flickr set. Hmm … guess where I’ll be next year for Halloween. |
