The second place we visited during the Doors Open weekend in Toronto was the Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres on Yonge Street just north of Queen Street. Apparently it's the last operating double-decker theatre in the world.
I've been to the Elgin Theatre a few times for shows (and one meeting
). Take a look at the following pic, see those little light covers on the balcony, they had volunteers making them by hand (because they didn't have money to actually buy them at the time). WHOA!!!
But I've never been to the Winter Garden Theatre. Turned out that it's gorgeous inside! With leaves and paintings on the wall, stage, everywhere:
Makes me want to just stand up on the chairs and touch the leaves … but maybe I'll get in trouble for doing that … hmmm …

I’ve been to the Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres several times. Beautiful. I don’t like the acoustic sound, though.
I didn’t go to Doors Open Toronto this year, but I did recently go to Doors Open Brampton for the first time this past weekend.
Nifty. I went to Bovaird House (old historic house) and saw the Haunted Baby Crib. Scary story.
