I thought I’d post the above two images here after I read Craft & Vision FREE eBook titled Craft & Vision: 11 Ways to Improve Your Photography. The very first chapter is on how to “make your images more dynamic”, one of them is by using long shutter speed and/or zooming. It is a very nice book (the title speaks for itself ) with tips from several professional photographers.

Another chapter in that free eBook talks about “the power of the print”, and this week, Craft & Vision released a more in-depth eBook about the subject: Making the Print: Printing Techniques for the Digital Photographer. This one is not free though. It’s USD$5, but until January 21st, 2012 (11:59PM PST), you can get it for USD$4 when you use the code PRINT4. And if you want to get 5 or more eBooks, you can use the code PRINT20 to get 20% off.

It covers pretty much everything from buying a printer to colour management to printing on canvas.

Hmm .. I should maybe find my old photos for (or do) the other 10 tips from the free eBook and blog about them .. that should give me 10 more posts!!!

Winter solstice will be in the afternoon. And the day will get longer after that. Yay!
The lunar eclipse will be in the morning. 2:40AM!!! Uhm …
I want to see it .. just like the one in 2008 (another post here) .. but I can see the moon now, which means at 2:40am tomorrow, it’ll be behind some tall buildings. Which means if I want to see it, I have to go out in the cold. Hmmm…

I think I’ll see it in my dreams this time …

Update (Dec. 21st): there are some nice pictures on flickr.

I took this picture in 2005, when we were in Yosemite Park. It was a very quick decision to take the picture because we were leaving to go to another spot in the park. I took it just because it looked interesting .. didn’t think too much about the light, positioning, etc. LOL!
When I look at the picture now, I can see the inside of the van, wordings on the window on the other side of the van, and a reflection of a stop sign.

I’ve never thought of the picture again until today .. when I read Chasing Reflections, the latest addition to Craft & Vision eBook library.
Actually, I seldom take “reflection” photos unless it involves water … sad, I know. LOL. After reading the eBook, I thought to myself that I could use some of the pointers in there and have more fun with reflections (not just water reflection ). So .. all I have to do now is .. make time to actually go out and take pictures…

Anyway, here’s a brief overview from the publisher on the “Chasing Reflections” eBook:

Chasing Reflections is the third in the series The Print & The Process. Eli Reinholdtsen is a creative photographer who, through her unique and skillful approach to reflections, captures moments and juxtapositions that are truly an art form at its finest. Reinholdtsen digs deep and shares tangible ways to scout, setup, and shoot complex and magical photographs that push the envelope of visual poetry. Her playful descriptions aren’t shy of digging deep into the techniques required to capture movement, timing, and contrast.

Chasing Reflections is an inspiring collection of 37 photographs that stand on their own a pieces of pure art (The Print) followed by a discussion of the creation of those visual moments (The Process).

The eBook costs US$5, or US$4 if you use promo code REFLECT4. Interested in getting more eBooks? Use promo code REFLECT20 to get 20% off when you buy 5 or more eBooks. Both codes expires this Sunday, August 1, 2010 @ 11:59PM PST.
