The Sixteen Lou Han were the disciples of the Grand Buddha. During the Song Dynasty, two more Luo Han were added to become the Eighteen Luo Han. As instructed by their teacher, they remained forever on Earth to help the people through harsh times and guide them towards a more happy future.
