Hmm .. I'm thinking to add a few functionalities to this minimalist site. I'd still like to keep this site as simple as possible .. but I could add a few stuff to make things easier (or more interesting). 
Some of them could be:
- The item “detail” page could use a link to go to the previous and/or next item (no need to go back to the main page).
- Add session variables so we don't have to type in name/email/link everytime we want to comment (maybe I'll get more comments if I have this working .. HAHAHA).
- Make comments area easier to read.
- Paging for item listings in the “Archived” or “Categorized” sections. The listings could get really long in some areas.
- Show five latest comments on main page. Maybe.
- Do something with the header. Hmmm .. maybe.
Any more thoughts are welcome.
These are all EXCELLENT ideas, especially the header idea. Studies show that people browse more (or are more inclined to stay longer) on your site if it has an interesting graphic. Seriously.
Also, you should add p*rn. A huge p*rn graphic. >:)
I agree with the “make comments area easier to read”. Example: if you made the comment (YOU), your comment should be highlighted to stand out from the rest of the drivel. I want to do this with my blog – but actually, what would be the point since technically, I hardly ever respond to my reader’s comments.
And huge GRAPHICS of dancing elephants. BLINKING ONES. And pink background too. The world really needs more pink. I’d like to plaster the world in pink and sing in harmony.
Yes, a PREVIOUS / NEXT function on your blog would really help.
However, on main index page – instead of PREVIOUS / NEXT, this would actually be MUCH better:
Page 1, 2, 3, 4… >>LAST

On each detail page (the actual post itself), definitely PREVIOUS / NEXT (to jump to previous/next post). Of course, the latest post TECHNICALLY would never have a NEXT button appearing, otherwise… well, that’d be a BUG, haha.
Your post made me think about ways to improve my site. I’m now thinking of 3 column layout. 1 for post and 2 for navigation (side-by-side). I think I need the 2 columns for navigation items because the scrolling is getting ridiculous on my site.
1024×768, not 800×600. I think the standard now is 1024×768, so 3 columns would be ok on my site.
Hmmm. Oh yes, it goes without saying – P*RN and dancing elephants.
Hmm .. I’m not sure if I want to have paging on the main index page. I kinda like to see them on one page (and if it’s not there, then it’s archived).
And yeah, I’m thinking of making my page wider too — but we’ll see.
And oh yeah, I’m going to modify your comments to say “p*rn” .. don’t want people to find my site when they google for the word. Already got a v***** spam comment. Hmmm .. that’s another thing I could have (spam protection). Hmmmm…..
